Benchmark your organic search visibility with Share of Search Analysis

Measure how much of the organic search landscape your brand owns versus competitors — branded/non-branded segmentation, CTR-weighted visibility, 12-month trend, with normalisation built in.

Written by Dan Pillay

The Share of Search Analysis agent measures how much of the organic search landscape your brand owns versus your competitors — segmented by branded and non-branded terms, weighted by SERP position and CTR, with 12 months of trend data and a forward projection.

Unlike a basic ranking report, the agent normalises across keyword groups (no cherry-picking), validates the data against multiple sources, and translates the numbers into category narrative — who's gaining, who's slipping, and where the structural shifts are happening.

Before you start

  • Search insights connection should be set up for the brand

  • Have your competitor list current in the platform

  • Know which keyword themes matter most (the agent will ask if not obvious)

How to run an analysis

Step 1: Open the agent

From the sidebar, open Agent Library and search for Share of Search Analysis, or go directly to app.boldstream.ai/run?agent=share-of-search-analysis. Select your client and click Run Agent.

Step 2: Confirm scope

The agent confirms brand and competitor scope, asks about keyword themes (or works from the platform's existing keyword set), and confirms the geographic market.

Step 3: Read the benchmark

The agent delivers:

  • Headline share of search — your brand's % share across the relevant SERPs

  • Branded vs non-branded split — different stories live in each

  • CTR-weighted visibility — accounts for where you actually rank, not just whether you appear

  • Segment breakdown — by keyword theme, intent type, or category

  • 12-month trend — month-on-month direction with peaks/troughs annotated

  • Forward projection — what current trend implies for the next 6 months

Step 4: Read the narrative

The agent translates the numbers into category narrative: who's gaining share and where, who's slipping, what structural shifts are visible (competitor SEO investment, new entrants, AI search displacement), and what that means for your strategy.

Step 5: Get the presentation

Final output is a board-ready presentation — charts, tables, and a narrative spine you can present in a strategy meeting without rework.

💡 Tip: Run quarterly as a strategy input. Share of search is a leading indicator — visible 6-9 months before brand tracker numbers move.
