Boldstream can now place the images it creates for you directly into your Figma frames — no exporting, no re-uploading, no dragging files across tabs.
Before you start
This is an early-access feature we're piloting with a handful of accounts. It needs a Boldstream plugin, which we install for you — talk to your Boldstream contact if you'd like it switched on.
You'll need the Figma desktop app — this doesn't work from a browser tab. And the plugin needs to be running, not just installed, since Figma plugins only work while they're open.
How it works
Boldstream works on whichever Figma file you currently have open, with the plugin running. There's no file picker and no way to point it at a file by name or link — open the file you want to work in first, then just ask.
Try it: from an idea to a placed image
Ask “list my Figma frames” and Boldstream reads the open file and tells you exactly what's there — the file, the page, and every frame by name.
Give it a starting point — a board, a campaign idea, a rough thought — and ask Boldstream to turn it into a social concept. It checks two quick things first: what role the post plays, and how polished you want it (see our guide to creative outputs for what each level means) — then generates a fresh image.
Happy with it? Just ask in plain English — no layer names or coordinates needed. Here's a request that worked:
“Place that image in the Social Post 1 frame in Figma.”
Boldstream places it straight into the frame you named, and confirms it's done.
And here’s how it lands in Figma:
💡 Tip: Nothing here is permanent — undo a placement in Figma exactly like any other edit, with Cmd+Z on a Mac or Ctrl+Z on Windows.
If Boldstream says Figma isn't connected
Figma plugins only run while the file is open, so if Boldstream can't see your frames, it says so plainly:
Open the Figma file you want to work in, run the Boldstream plugin, and ask again.
What's next?
This works the other way too — see how Boldstream reads a tool's own data back into chat in Connect monday.com — or any tool — with your own key, or turn any idea into a ready-to-approve post with Draft and publish social posts directly from chat.
