Long chats can stretch across hours, days, even weeks of back-and-forth with an agent — and finding "that thing you said yesterday" used to mean scrolling forever. Not any more.
Boldstream now shows a Timeline rail on the left of every long conversation. It compresses the whole thread into a vertical strip you can scan at a glance, click to jump, or drag to scroll. The active marker follows you as you read manually, so you always know where you are.
What it looks like
Open any long chat and the rail appears down the left edge of the conversation, just inside the sidebar. Day headers split the thread by date. Each marker below shows the time of a cluster of messages, with a small count beside it. The active marker is highlighted as you scroll.
How to use it
Click a marker to jump
Click any marker on the rail and the conversation jumps to the matching message, anchored just below the top of the chat so you can read straight on.
Drag to scroll
Click and hold anywhere on the rail, then drag up or down. The conversation scrolls with you — useful when you want to scrub quickly through a very long thread without losing position.
Day headers
For threads that span multiple days, each new day gets its own header on the rail (e.g. Apr 17, Apr 20). Click the header and you jump straight to the first message of that day — perfect for "what did we cover on Monday?".
Message-count hints
Each marker shows you how many messages belong to that bucket ("8 messages", "40 messages", and so on). The denser the cluster, the more there is to read when you click it — so the rail also gives you a quick sense of where the heavy back-and-forth happened.
Milestone labels
When an agent hits a meaningful step in a longer run — completing a phase, finishing a deliverable, asking for a decision — the rail can surface that as a short label next to the marker (up to ~24 characters). Look for these labels when you want to skip straight to the moment something happened.
Tips
Desktop only. The rail is designed for larger screens, so it appears on desktop layouts (large widths). On smaller screens, scroll as normal.
Stays out of the way. The rail is intentionally slim — it only widens when there's something worth labelling (a milestone or day header).
Up to 24 markers. Even on very long threads, the rail keeps to at most 24 markers by intelligently bucketing time. You'll never get a cluttered, unreadable strip.
The active marker tracks your scroll. When you scroll manually, the highlighted marker on the rail moves to wherever you are in the thread — so the rail also tells you where you are, not just where you can go.
What's next?
Try it in your longest open thread — a competitor brief, a content sprint, or a multi-day strategy chat. Jump to a day, scrub the rail to find a quote, click a milestone to land on the deliverable. The longer the chat, the more time it saves.
